LAFAYETTE SQUARE, ACROSS FROM THE WHITE HOUSE, IS HOME TO PROTESTS
Lafayette Square Park has been the scene of many protests and performance art. THE HOLLER! just missed someone levitating there by days. Across from the White House, the park has long been a spot where folks present their points of view. One of the longest running protests has been maintained by Concepcion Picciotto, who has been demonstrating by holding The White House Anti-Nuclear Peace Vigil and against other premeditated excesses by the US since August 1, 1981, each day and almost each night. During a brief visit to the park THE HOLLER! noticed that Americans were the most put off by her or thought she was strange, while people from outside the US, people from her native Spain and the Middle East for example, took what she said seriously and had a more sympathetic attitude towards her.
