AN INTERVIEW WITH THE MIXED MEDIA ARTIST IWA

August 31, 2007
Special for THE NEW TIMES HOLLER!

IWA, born in Guadaloupe, living in Fort De France, exhibits around the world
Bruno Predurand, the mixed media artist known as IWA, who, while strongly connected with his origins, expresses his unique vision of the world outside of Martinique where he and his family live. This is partly due to the limited amount of venues and private collectors for a visual artist to show and tell to. He is not alone in this, as other visual artists who want to create and sell more than touristic craft art must find conducive environments and responsive clients if they want to develop their visions as they pursue their careers. There is also the solitary nature of being a visual artist at play here; they usually work alone, and unless they show, they may not come in contact with people who are either supportive or share similar concepts.
